Come and learn the superpowers of the future at Techsters!

Technology + Creators = Techsters

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math are all vast and complex topics in themselves, so how is it expected for students who haven’t explored the field to commit to a career in the STEAM field? That’s why students need to gain exposure and experience in the STEAM field early and for the same reason Techsters is at the middle school level. Techsters is a student-driven, after school tech-club that was started in 2014 by a 6th grader to help other 6th graders learn what coding is and how to do it.

Now, Techsters is a community that engages middle schoolers in hands-on activities and Q&A sessions with professional guest speakers. This is how we are going to nurture the next generation of young, female pioneers. Join us at Techsters to be part of the action.

About me:

My name is Iccha Singh and I started Techsters in 6th grade with my Computer Science teacher, Mrs. Markmann. I am currently a sophomore in high school and I decided to keep Techsters at middle school level to expose students to STEAM as early as possible, and to bridge the gap between the programs at our middle and high school. The premise behind Techsters since the beginning has always been to cultivate a community where speaking up and getting involved is encouraged, no matter what level you’re on. Additionally, I wanted to contribute to closing the STEAM gender gap, by giving girls an opportunity to to explore this field and show them how they can make a difference in their world with these tools. Techsters has been achieving these goals and many more since 2013. I am very appreciative to have been given the opportunity to contribute to my community and the STEAM education in our school district, as that is what I am truly passionate about.

Techsters Production:

This short production captures the highlights of Techsters and shows just how much fun we had during every session! Some of the key points that we stress at our club include: Empowering girls to speak up and get involved, discovering how important technology is to an entrepreneur, and how to use technology to make a positive impact what you’re most passionate about.
